Gayropa Cody Holliday Haefner and Alex Hare

About This Show

Repurposing the Russian blogosphere’s sneering nickname for a perverted Europe, Gayropa centers on the effort to obtain recognition of a glittering new nation whose population will consist of all the world’s LGBT people. Yet what is intended as a way to protect those facing oppression and violence soon inspires a slew of competing visions for the country. Giving voice to Russian activists, marriage enthusiasts, politically-minded show queens, and young people struggling for survival, Gayropa is about building a global community that defies borders.
