Dixon Place Hosts: The Infinite Energy of Ada Lovelace Produced by New Camerata Opera

About This Show
New Camerata Opera announces their Spring 2022 mainstage production, The Infinite Energy of Ada Lovelace, by Kamala Sankaram and Rob Handel. The one-act opera will be directed by Jennifer Williams, with music direction by Nell Flanders. Immersive cabaret elements and thematically-related repertoire will be performed before and after the opera, intertwining multiple pieces into one engaging evening.
This opera, composed in 2019, follows Ada, Countess of Lovelace and Lord Byron’s daughter, who has been asked to help Charles Babbage with his work on the Difference Engine. The revolutionary concepts that she put forth and her notes about the potential ability of the Engine to carry out an algorithm lead Ada to be considered the world’s first computer programmer.
The cabaret will incorporate aerialist work from performer Heather Meyer and Circus Director Nicki Miller. Utilizing the full spectrum of tools for storytelling, the evening will provide a transportive trip into the world of Ada Lovelace.
